Café Con Libros

Café Con Libros is a Black-owned, Afro-Latine, woman-founded intersectional feminist bookstore and coffee shop on Prospect Place — one of the most distinctive cafes in NYC and a genuine community anchor in Crown Heights. Founded by Kalima DeSuze, the space combines a curated bookstore (centering work by Black, Indigenous, and women-of-color authors) with a working coffee program built on Irving Farm beans. The atmosphere is warm and explicitly built for sit-and-stay: it's a bookstore first, which means you're welcome to spend hours reading or working between sips. Programming includes book clubs, author events, and community gatherings. Pastries rotate from local bakeries. The Infatuation has called it both one of the best coffee shops AND one of the best bookstores in Brooklyn — a rare double endorsement that captures what makes the place essential.
