315 Smith St, Brooklyn, NY 11231
Liz's Book Bar opened in summer 2024 on Smith Street from novelist Maura Cheeks, combining a curated independent bookstore, a coffee bar, and a wine bar into a single Carroll Gardens space. The bookstore side leans literary — fiction, essays, poetry, with attention paid to authors of color — and the coffee program runs on Black Acres Roastery beans with tea from SerendipiTea and pastries from Bien Cuit. The space is warm, intentionally designed for sit-and-stay sessions (it's a bookstore first, after all), and transitions seamlessly from morning coffee to evening wine and small-plates service. Black-owned and quickly established as one of the cultural anchors of the Carroll Gardens dining and reading scene. A genuinely distinctive addition to the neighborhood.
